Kensington

Local information

Kensington, part of the Royal Borough and populated by Kensington Palace and it's beautiful gardens, has Kensington High Street as it's commercial centre. A huge variety of retailers, for budgets big and small, and restaurants occupy the street and most noteably, 'Whole Foods' chose to open their biggest London store on this street.

One of the most solidly held Conservative seats in the country, Kensington's residential architecture is predominantly Victorian terraces situated around beautiful garden squares. Kensington is, in general, an extremely affluent area, a trait that it now shares with its neighbour to the south, Chelsea. The area has some of London's most expensive streets and garden squares.

Most neighbouring districts are regarded as exclusive residential areas, including Knightsbridge and Brompton to the east and the nearest parts of Notting Hill to the north. To the west is the less affluent but up-and-coming area of Earl's Court.
